Training & Outreach
Introduction to Transit Management
SURTC is offering a "how-to" course for new transit managers and those who have been working in the profession for less than five years. Most individuals who become managers of rural or small urban transit systems do not start out planning and training for these positions. Rather, through a series of events, many fall into the role of managing transit operations. This 3-day course is intended to provide transit managers with information which allows them to "hit the ground running" and serve as a reference for them as they continue to develop skills in the position.

Participant Quotes
Here is what recent participants had to say:
"After 7 years of management in transit, this is the best information I've ever received. I wish I knew this years ago. I'm going home and make a few changes."—Dave from Fairbanks, Alaska
"I believe it was the best training I have ever attended. Moreover, I think I learned more than I ever have previously in any training setting, academic or otherwise. I only wish that I would have had the training three years ago. I am quite certain that I would have done some things differently...Now I will take the knowledge I gained and...make some improvements to our system."—Larry from Juneau, Alaska
"Excellent transit workshop notebook: detailed information, divided into appropriate sections, easy to read. The presenters had great energy. It was clearly evident that you know your stuff."
"The trainers were very engaging and broke it down very well. They were very knowledgeable, and their passion for the transit industry was evident. Great materials to take home and use for reference!"
"Thank you for the CD with the employee handbook that we can personalize for our agency. We desperately need to update ours. This will make it easy."
