What is the purpose of the discussion board?

The discussion board will be used to facilitate communication among individuals interested in transit. It will also be used to inform you of recent research updates, training options, and other relevant information for rural and small urban transit.

Who can sign up for the discussion board?

Anyone interested in discussing transit issues may sign up.

How do I submit a message to the board?

After signing up for the discussion board, you should receive an email message confirming your subscription. You will then be able to send messages from the same email address you used to sign-up. Just follow these simple directions:

  1. Start a new email message
  2. Type surtc@listserv.nodak.edu in the "To" field
  3. Enter the "Subject" of your message (Note: try to use a meaningful subject, so the reader knows what the message is about)
  4. Type your message
  5. Send the email

Note: All messages are filtered by Small Urban & Rural Transit Center (SURTC) before they are posted to the discussion board, so your message may not instantly appear.

What are some example topics of the discussion board?

Who is my message sent to?

When sending your message to the discussion board, it will be sent to everyone signed up. If you want to send an email to a specific person, you'll need to type their email address in the "To" field.

How do I view the discussion board archives?

All messages posted to the discussion board will be stored in an archive database. To view the archives, just click the link below:

Discussion board etiquette:

  • Be nice. Please refrain from inappropriate language and personal attacks.
  • Choose a descriptive subject. This will help other subscribers to successfully identify your topic.
  • No Marketing. All advertising or solicitation will be filtered out of the discussion board.

SURTC reserves the right to delete messages which do not follow these guidelines.
