Evaluating the Importance of Transit Access in Home Search Process of Apartment Dwellers in Small Urban Areas: A Case Study of Fargo
The purpose of this project is to explore the relationship between transit choice and residential choice of apartment dwellers. We expect the results of this project will offer insightful policy implications for various agencies.
- Transportation planners: How important is transit accessibility in the residential choice of apartment dwellers? Who values transit accessibility? What is the contribution of transit accessibility to property values? For apartment dwellers, is transit accessibility superior to dwelling/neighborhood improvements?
- Urban planners and community developers: What kinds of people do communities want to attract? Where to build and zone apartments? Near a commercial center? Near a park? Near a transit station?
- Property managers: How to price the apartment based on apartment attributes and neighborhood amenities?
